Friday Sermon – Khalifatul Masih V – Mirza Masroor Ahmad – Year 2015

Peace be upon you “I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except God “and I bear witness that Muhammad (saw) is His Servant and Messenger. “After this I seek refuge with Allah, from Satan, the accursed. “In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.

“All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds. “The Gracious, the Merciful. “Master of the Day of Judgment. “Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we implore for help. “Guide us in the right path – “The path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy blessings,

“those who have not incurred Thy displeasure, “and those who have not gone astray.” Every Ahmadi who has read or heard something about Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) knows about the bond of love and affection he had with the Promised Messiah (as).

An example of a bond of brotherhood and love with the Promised Messiah (as) that can be given simply for the sake of Allah is the example of Hazrat Maulana Hakeem Nuruddin (ra). After vowing obedience, if an example can be shown of setting the highest standard

And remaining established on it, it would [have to] be Hazrat Maulana Nuruddin (ra). If anyone has formed a bond with the Promised Messiah (as) stronger than all worldly relations while discharging the right of Bait, the best example of this would be Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra).

If there is anyone who has established a peerless example of servitude, it would be Hazrat Hakim ul Ummah Maulana Nuruddin (ra). If we observe anyone at the extreme height of humility and meekness in front of the Promised Messiah (as), then in the history of the Ahmadiyya Jama ‘at

Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) established the highest standard of these values as well. He attained that honour from the Imam of the age, the Promised Messiah (as) which could not be attained by anyone else. With reference to Hazarat Khalifatul Masih I (ra), the Promised Messiah (as) states,

“How fortunate would it be if every one of the Community (Ummat) were Nuruddin.” It is, therefore, a great honour that the Imam of the age has set the standard of obedience of Hazrat Maulana Nuruddin (ra) as the benchmark for the believers. That is, if everybody becomes Nuruddin, a revolution can occur.

Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) cites narrations of Hazrat Maulana Nuruddin Khalifatul Masih I (ra). By reading these incidents, the examples of the reciprocal bond that exists between master and his servant and the mentor and his disciple. Examples of humility and meekness are also seen.

While mentioning the standard of sacrifices of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) and the most noble example of his obedience, at one place Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states, “Once when he came to Qadian, the Promised Messiah (as) said that ‘I have received a revelation concerning you

‘that if you go to your hometown, you will lose your dignity.’ “Upon this, he did not even mention returning to his hometown. “At that time he was having a grand house built in his hometown Bherah.” Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) says that when he went to Bhera he saw this house as well.

“He was having a grand hall built so that from there he could deliver Dars “and also run his clinic from there. “ Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) says, “In terms of [our] current time, the house was not of great value; “however, at the time when Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) offered this sacrifice,

“the Community did not have much wealth. “At that time, it was not the task of any ordinary person to have a house built like that. “After [paying heed to] the instruction of the Promised Messiah (as), “he never went back to even have a look at the house.

“Some friends urged him to see the house once but he said ‘I have left it for the sake Exalted God. What is the point at the point of looking at it?’. ” Then Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) narrates another incident. A few members of the Anjuman [administrative body] started to consider themselves as

More intelligent and were beginning to be held sway by their worldly pursuits. In a lot of the cases, when presented to the Anjuman, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) and Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) held the same opinion. However, the opinion of some other influential and top members varied.

In any case, on a similar occasion, in a gathering like this, a question was put forward to shut down the Talimul Islam High School. Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) was against the idea of closing this and Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) was of the same opinion, that it should not be closed.

A major and emphatic debate occurred on this topic. Eventually, the decision was proposed to the Promised Messiah (as). In any case, with reference to this incident, Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states that “During the lifetime of the Promised Messiah (as) some individuals sought to end this school “and keep just the Arabic Madrassah

“because the Jamaat could not afford the burden of running two schools. “There was such a noticeable consensus of opinion on this matter, that perhaps only ‘one and a half persons’ were left supporting this school.” One was Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) and the other,

Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) says, was himself because he was only a child [at the time] “but the passion I had for the school at that time had reached the limits of obsession. “Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra), on account of his respect, “could not speak before the Promised Messiah (as).

“This is why he made me his means and tool “and would tell me something and I would convey it to the Promised Messiah (as). “Allah the Exalted granted us success, “despite some hasty people who nearly issued a fatwah of kufr [disbelief] against us

“accusing us of doing Kufr if the school was not closed. “Referring to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) and me, “they started saying that these people are worldly because they support English education. “Despite this, the Promised Messiah (as) issued a verdict in our favour.”

The talks about the continuation or termination of the school are clear; however, one also learns about the respect and reverence of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) for the Promised Messiah (as) when talking before him. Perhaps he feared lest he utters something out of passion while presenting his case

Which may have been against the honour of the Promised Messiah (ra). While mentioning the insight and the faith of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra), at one place Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) mentions how nations are built; “People make nations while nations make people.

“Those who possess fertile minds, intelligent and virtuous souls are of great benefits to nations. “When higher and virtuous goals are attained by good and intelligent beings, “they prove to be extremely beneficial.” He then mentioned that the Promised Messiah (as) also established a Jamaat. Allah the Exalted treated him in the very same manner.

That is to say, at the outset of his claim, a number of people believed in him who in terms of their inherent qualities rendered the most noble services and were his helpers in the task which Allah the Exalted had assigned to him.

And one from among them was Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) as well. Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states “In reality we observe that “those people proved to become the best helpers and supporters.” “Even prior to the claim of prophethood Hazrat Hakim Maulvi Nuruddin Sahib’s (ra)

“attention turned towards the Promised Messiah (as) and he started reading his books. “In his early books ‘Fathe-Islam’ and ‘Taudhee Maraam’ where the Promised Messiah (as) “claimed to be the Messiah he discussed certain topics regarding prophet hood. “Somebody who thought ill of the Promised Messiah (as) and had read the content of these books,

“perhaps he read them in the press, and so he went to Jumun. “He thought to himself that he would move Maulvi Nuruddin Sahib (ra) away from Mirza Sahib. “At this time Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) had performed the Bait of the Promised Messiah (as).

“The Promised Messiah (as) made a claim to be the Messiah “during the publication of Fathe Islam and Taudhee Maram “which was around two years following the Bai’at. “These two books formed the basis for the continuity of prophet hood. “When the person read about the continuity of prophethood in Promised Messiah’s (as) books,

“he thought that certainly now Maulvi Nuruddin Sahib (ra) will leave Mirza Sahib “because he knew Maulvi Sahib (ra) had immense love for the Holy Prophet (saw). ‘When he hears that Mirza Sahib has said that a prophet can appear after ‘the Holy Prophet (saw), he will no longer remain his disciple.’

“Thus, taking a party of people along with him he slowly proceeded towards Hazrat Maulvi Sahib. “When they reached him, the person said that he wanted to ask Maulvi Sahib (ra) a question. “Maulvi Sahib (ra) enquired from him what he wished to ask. “The person asked Maulvi Sahib

‘If a person says that he has been sent as a prophet for this age and ‘that after the Holy Prophet (saw) prophet hood continues in the Ummah of Muhammad (saw), ‘what would you think concerning that?’ “This person thought that he was going to a Maulvi.

“Little did he know that he was going not to a Maulvi but “to such a person from whom Allah the Exalted wanted work done for His movement. “Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) said that the answer to this question depends on “the state and condition of the claimant.

‘If the claimant is dishonest, I will deem him to be a liar and ‘if the claimant is an honest and truthful person, I would consider that the mistake is mine. ‘In reality, a prophet can come.’ “Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) said that, ‘On hearing my answer,

‘he told his friends that Hazrat Maulvi Sahib had become completely corrupt ‘and thought there was no point in talking to him anymore.’ “Hazrat Maulvi Sahib (ra) said that he enquired from him what the problem was. “He replied that, ‘Your Mirza Sahib has claimed that Allah the Exalted sends revelation to him,

‘and that he resembles a prophet.’ “Upon hearing this Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) said that, ‘Indeed what Mirza Sahib has written is correct, and that I have faith in it’.” An incident which does not relate directly to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) but,

[to an extent] it does, is an incident concerning his sister who Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) had guided concerning a question and answer with a saint. His sister accepted Ahmadiyyat, however she followed a saint, who tried to lure her away after she had taken the Bai’at.

This is the case of the saints in this day and age also. Relating this [incident], Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states that, “Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I’s (ra) sister was an adherent of a saint and after coming to Qadian, “she did the Ba’it of the Promised Messiah (as).

“Upon her return, the saint asked, ‘what had happened to her ‘that she had entered the Bai’at of Mirza Sahib, it seems Nuruddin has cast a spell on you’. “She mentioned this to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra),

“and he replied that, If ever had the chance to meet the saint again, she should tell him, ‘my deeds are with me and your deeds are with you. I have done Mirza Sahib’s Bai’at ‘because if I had not done it then on the Day of Judgment

‘I would have been pelted with shoes, and ask the saint, what he will do on that day.’ “When she went back to the saint, she said the exact thing to him. “The Saint replied, ‘it seems as if this is Nuruddin’s mischief, he has told you to say this,

‘however, you do not need to worry. ‘When the Day of Judgment arrives and everyone is gathered on the path [leading to heaven or hell], ‘I will shoulder the burden of your sins and you can run into heaven.’ “She responded to the saint, ‘we will enter into heaven but what will happen to you?’

“He replied, ‘when the angels come towards me, I will show them my red eyes ‘and ask them that was our forefather, Imam Hussain’s martyrdom not enough for them ‘that they are now tormenting us on the Day of Judgment? ‘Upon hearing this, the angles will run away, out of embarrassment

‘and I will also hop along into heaven’.” Regarding Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I’s (ra) simplicity and obedience, Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states, “I have seen it for myself that Hazrat Khaifatul Masih I (ra) “would be quietly sat in the gatherings. “Once the matter of weddings was being discussed in the Mosques,

“Deputy Muhammad Sheriff Sahib, a companion of the Promised Messiah (as) relates, “Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) was sat in a position where his knees were raised “and his head was lowered towards his knees. “The Promised Messiah (as) stated, ‘Maulvi Sahib! One of the ways the community can expand

‘is by having many children, therefore if members of the community were to have ‘more than one wife then this will also increase the numbers of the community’. “Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) raised his head from his knees and submitted, ‘Huzur! I am ready to obey your instruction, however at my age,

‘no one would be willing to give their daughter to me [in marriage].’ “Upon hearing this the Promised Messiah (as) laughed.” Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states that, “It was owing to his humility and respect “for the Promised Messiah (as) that he was granted such a noble status.

Nowadays, many people have the desire for more than one marriage but their desire is not based on this intention. If one has a genuine reasons or reasons then it is permissible. However, some people destroy their homes by marrying more than once and they need to refrain from this.

The Promised Messiah (as) has very strictly admonished us from this. After mentioning this aspect of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra), Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) mentioned that some of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I’s (ra) children held a wrong stance about Khilafat and the Jamaat.

However, even today, the Jamaat is compelled to respect Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) and prays for him, and God Almighty has instilled the importance of his humility and the love he had for the Promised Messiah (as) in our hearts. Despite the fact that some of his sons adopted a wrong stance,

However our love for their father can never be taken out of our hearts, we still remember him in our prayers and pray that may God Almighty elevate His station because he accepted the Promised Messiah (as) at a time when the whole world was against him.

Thus, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) has a rank which shall always remain. Regarding the Promised Messiah’s (as) statement that one of the ways to increase the size of the community is through having many children, Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) has made mention of it regarding himself and the progeny of the Promised Messiah (as).

Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states that, “When the Promised Messiah (as) was looking for our matrimonial matches, “the first question he would ask would be how many children that person has, “how many brothers does he have and how many children do the brothers have.” Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) further states,

“I remember regarding the matrimonial match proposed for Mia Bashir Ahmad Sahib (ra), “the Promised Messiah (as) enquired how many children were there in that family. “When he learnt that there were seven sons, “the Promised Messiah (as) without enquiring anything further said that, ‘The match was good and the marriage should take place there’.”

Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states that, “Mine and Mia Bashir Ahmad Sahib’s (ra) proposals for “marriage were considered together. At the time of both of our marriages, “the Promised Messiah (as) enquired the same thing about the families “which had been suggested for their marriage, that how many children the families have,

“how many sons are there and how many brothers. “Therefore, along with considering other factors, “the Promised Messiah (as) gave precedence to one’s progeny”. Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states that, “Even today when some people seek advice from me, “I advise them to look at the progeny of the family.”

Nowadays, the world is giving a lot of stress on family planning, however those countries which did stress on this they are increasingly realising that it was wrong. When man tries to conflict with the laws of nature then problems arise. For a long time, China had placed a restriction upon its citizens that

They could not have more than one child, otherwise they would be fined or punished. As a result there are instances where people aborted their children or killed their children after their birth. However, they have now realised and have lifted that restriction.

There are various other countries who have placed this restriction and are now realising that if this restriction remains then their manpower will eventually finish and they will no longer have any workforce. There will be a huge gap until the next generation and they would require people from elsewhere to fill in the gap.

Therefore, they are now changing their policies. Indeed, this is what happens when people try to contravene the laws of nature and consider themselves to be more intelligent. Now they have begun to worry that how will they fill the gap which will emerge

Between one generation and the next and as a result they will incur a lot of loss. However, this was only a side note. Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) relates another incident about Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I’s (ra) devotion, humility and simplicity.

He (ra) states that, “In the early days of Qadian, there was a need of various items and “also in preparing food for the guests coming to visit the Promised Messiah (as). “There was help needed to buy grocery, etc. however,

“it was not possible for the members of our family to do all of this alone. “The members of the Jamaat would often help out. “There was no proper system in the Langar Khana [kitchen], “for instance if the fuel came and had to be stored away

“then one of the female attendants of the house would call for someone “that the fuel had arrived in order to light the fire and needed to be stored away. “Five/seven men standing outside would then come and help store it away.

“A few times it happened that the female attendant called out for help and no one came. “Once, a carriage full of cow dung came (which are used to light fuel), “there was also an overcast of clouds and the female attendant came out and

“called out for someone to come and help store away the fuel, “however, no one paid any attention to her.” Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states, “I saw that Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) was returning “from Masjid Aqsa, after having delivered a lecture on the Holy Quran.

“At the time, he was not a Khalifa but due to his religious knowledge, “righteousness and being a physician, he held a very special position “and had a great impact upon people. “He was returning home after having delivered his lecture

“when he heard the female attendant’s voice asking if there was someone who could come “and help put the fuel away as it was about to rain, “however no one paid any attention to her call. “When Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) saw that no one paid any attention to her voice,

“he said, ‘Very well, I will become that someone today’ and started to carry the fuel inside.” It is obvious that when the students see their teacher doing something they will also start doing the same, and so the others also joined in and took the fuel inside.

Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states, “I remember seeing Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) doing this “on several occasions and whenever he would start doing this, others would also join in.” Speaking of the Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I’s (ra) love for the Promised Messiah (as),

Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states, “It was Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I’s (ra) habit that “when he was very happy, and out of his love for the Promised Messiah (as) would call him, “ ‘Mirza’ and would say that our Mirza says this.

“This was a habit because he knew the Promised Messiah (as) since the early days “when the Promised Messiah (as) had not even announced his claim yet. “Many foolish people would criticise that, God forbid, ‘Maulvi Sahib does not respect the Promised Messiah (as)’. During the time of the Promised Messiah (as), people would

Refer to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) as Maulvi Sahib or as the Senior Maulvi Sahib. Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states, “I have heard this criticism being made by people “on many occasions, and I have also heard Maulvi Sahib’s (ra) response.

“Once, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) was delivering a lecture in Masjid Aqsa and he said, ‘some people criticise me and say that I do not respect the Promised Messiah (as), ‘however I use this term out of extreme love and affection’.”

Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states, “One should not just look at the words superficially, rather, “one should ponder over its deeper and hidden meanings.” Then, there is another example of mutual sincerity and love. The level of sincerity which Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) possessed is not hidden from anyone.

Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) says that, “Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) was not in the habit of walking briskly. “When the Promised Messiah (as) would go for walks, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) “would accompany him as well. “However, after a short distance when the Promised Messiah (as) would start to walk fast,

“Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) would go and sit under a banyan tree “which was located outside the town towards the East. “When the Promised Messiah (as) would return from walking, “Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) would join him. “Someone mentioned to the Promised Messiah (as) that

‘Maulvi Sahib (ra) does not go for a walk.’ “The Promised Messiah (as) said ‘He goes daily.’ “Upon this, the Promised Messiah (as) was informed ‘He starts walking along but he sits down under the banyan tree and ‘he re-joins on the way back.’ “Therefore, after this, the Promised Messiah (as) would always keep

“Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) with him during his walks. “When the Promised Messiah (as) would walk fast, “Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) would get far behind. “The Promised Messiah (as) would stop during his walk and ask ‘Maulvi Sahib, what was that matter?’ “Maulvi Sahibra (ra) would walk really fast

“and catch up to the Promised Messiah (as) and would start walking along. “After a little while, the Promised Messiah (as) would start walking ahead of him again. “After walking a short distance the Promised Messiah (as) would stop [again] and say ‘Maulvi Sahib, that matter was this.’ “There were various matters [discussed].

“Maulvi Sahib (ra) would catch up with the Promised Messiah (as) quickly “and as a result of walking briskly he would run out of breath but “the Promised Messiah (as) would keep Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) with him. “After a distance of 30 to 40 yards, Maulvi Sahib (ra) would be left behind and

“the Promised Messiah (as) would again address Maulvi Sahib (ra) and “Maulvi Sahib (ra) would then walk briskly and catch up with the Promised Messiah (as). “By doing this, the purpose of the Promised Messiah (as) was to get Maulvi Sahib (ra) “in the habit of walking briskly.

“Lack of practice to walk briskly was the main reason that Maulvi Sahib would walk slowly. “As the field of medicine is such that one has to remain seated “and if there is a chance to go out to see a patient, a ride is available.

For this reason, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) was not used to walking briskly. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I’s (ra) sincerity was such that the Promised Messiah (as) said, “How fortunate would it be if every one of the Community (Ummat) were Nur-ud-Din.” Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) narrates another example which illustrates

Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I’s (ra) sincerity, as well as his trust in God. He (ra) says, “Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) was once sitting in his clinic. “The Promised Messiah (as) was in Dehli where Hazrat Mir Sahib (ra) got severely sick. “Hazrat Mir Sahib (ra) had such a severe colic attack

“that doctors said that surgery was required. “Some people suggested that, the use of some Greek medicines could provide relief without surgery. “The Promised Messiah (as) sent a telegram to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) saying that “he should come at once, regardless of whatever situation he is in.

“Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) was at his clinic. “He was neither wearing a coat, nor did he have any money with him. “Perhaps he took Hakeem Ghulam Muhammad Sahib Amtrisary with him and “started walking in the same condition [while he was sat].

“Hakeem Ghulam Muhammad Sahib said that ‘May I bring some money from home?’ “Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) replied, ‘No! The order is “Come in whatever condition you are in.” Everyone knows that Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) was weak in walking as the incident has been mentioned before;

Whereby the Promised Messiah (as) used to go for a walk and Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) would be left behind. Promised Messiah (as) would stop and ask ‘Where is Maulvi Sahib (ra)?’ Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) would then catch up to the Promised Messiah (as) afterwards.

Similarly, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) would be left behind then the Promised Messiah (as) would stand and wait for him as I have mentioned in this incident. However, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) travelled to Batala on foot, perhaps with Hakeem Ghulam Muhammad Sahib (ra).

Despite being weak in walking, he walked to Batala station and sat there because the orders were to ‘Come immediately!’ so he walked in that condition to Batala. Now look, that it was this sincerity and obedience that [despite the fact] he had difficulty walking long distances, however, when he was ordered

He walked almost 11 miles to Batala. Hakeem Sahib enquired, ‘What will be the arrangement for the fare?’ Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) replied, ‘Sit here. Allah will Himself make some arrangement.’ This is an example of trust in God. In the meantime, a person came and asked, ‘Are you Hakeem Nurrudin Sahib (ra)?’

Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) replied, ‘Yes.’ The person said, ‘There are 10-15 minutes before the train arrives and ‘I have asked the Station Master to wait for you. I am the Revenue Collector of Batala. ‘My wife is very sick. Can you please come and see her?’

Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) went there and checked the patient, wrote a prescription and returned to the station. The Revenue Collector also came back with Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) and said ‘Please go and have a seat on the train. I will be there with the ticket.’

The Revenue Collector brought one second class ticket and another third class ticket and along with that, he gave 50 Rupees in cash and said, ‘This is a small gift. Kindly accept it.’ Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) arrived in Delhi and treated Mir Nasir Nawaab Sahib (ra).

Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) says, “This is the true level of trust in God. “Allah the Almighty desires to see if His servant trusts Him with sincerity or not. “For this reason sometimes, it is quite possible that He tries him with hunger.

“Trust in God is not that one is able to immediately pass a test or trial every time. “Sometimes a person is tried, there is barely any food, “there is barely any clothing, and a person is even brought close to death. “This is because God Almighty wants to show to His servants

“that this servant of mine places all his trust in God.” Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) says that, “Sometimes it so happens that one has to tie up a piece of cloth to cover up, a torn and “shredded piece of clothing which hangs loose and

“then God Almighty sends His revelation to some in order to help that person but “only after having placed them in these circumstances. “Some of them receive a verbal revelation as well “but some are shown the condition of the person and “thus come to his help.’

“But those people who are on the true level of putting their trust in God, “they do not beg from others. “Allah the Almighty arranges something for them and directs people’s focus towards them. “However, those who have trust in God, they do not go to anyone themselves, rather,

“Allah the Almighty sends [others] in order to fulfill their needs.” So this is the high level of trust in God which Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) possessed. While mentioning the exalted status of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra), at one place Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) says,

That his status was very high and he was a friend of Allah. However, there should not be any exaggeration in this that a person is raised to such a high status that it becomes an overstatement. “Some of his children who have tried to exaggerate this

“and there are some non-Ahmadis who exaggerate this point. “However, the non-Ahmadis don’t do this out of love for him, rather, “their objective is to fulfill their own purpose.” Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) says that one should not desist from expressing the truth. The Promised Messiah (as) expressed the truth

And exalted the status of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) at the same time. Therefore, Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) says that, “There is no doubt that the Holy Prophet (saw) praised Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra) a lot. “In the same manner the Promised Messiah (as) immensely praised Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra).

“However, the Qur’an was not revealed in order “to establish the honour of Hazrat Abu Bakr (ra) “and there is no mention in the revelations of the Promised Messiah (as) that “We have sent you to establish the honour of Nuruddin [Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra)].

“Yes, the Promised Messiah (as) expressed the truth and reality. “The Promised Messiah (as) said ‘How fortunate would it be if everyone of the Community (Ummat) were Nur-ud-Din’. “However, this is the truth and it should have been mentioned. Not mentioning the sacrifices of the one who offered sacrifice,

And Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) had offered many sacrifices, is being ungrateful. Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) says, “I remember that once a patient came and said that “he was treated by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) once “and that benefitted him a lot. The Promised Messiah (as) was ill that day.

“However, when he heard of this he sat up immediately and said to Hazrat Amma Jaan (ra), ‘Allah the Almighty has motivated Maulvi Sahib (ra) ‘and brought him here and now thousands of people are benefiting from him. ‘If Maulvi Sahib (ra) would not have come here, then how would these people be treated?

‘Hence, Maulvi Sahib’s (ra) being is a huge blessing of God the Almighty.’ “This was being grateful, not an exaggeration.” The highest level of humility of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) is mentioned by Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) with reference to an incident narrated by a Companion. Hazrat Mulseh Maud (ra) mentions,

“A Companion stated that he visited the Promised Messiah (as). “The Promised Messiah (as) was sitting in Masjid Mubarak, “and all the shoes were placed near the door. “A person in a simple and plain dress came and sat down on the shoes.

“That companion says that, ‘I thought he was a thief and will steal his shoes, therefore, ‘I started keeping an eye on my shoes so that he may not take them away.’ “He said, ‘Some time after this incident the Promised Messiah (as) passed away and

‘I heard that someone else has become the caliph in his place. ‘Upon this I came to tak e the oath of allegiance. ‘When I stretched out my hand for taking the oath of allegiance ‘I found out that he was the same person whom

‘I had out of my stupidity, considered to be a thief who might steal shoes, ‘I felt extremely ashamed of myself’.” “It was the habit of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) that he would come and sit on the shoes. “When the Promised Messiah (as) would call him he would come a little closer and

“when the Promised Messiah (as) would again say ‘Has Maulvi Nurudin Sahib not arrived?’ “then Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) would move a little further again. “In this manner after calling him repeatedly he used to come forward. “So the Companion says that ‘I used to say to his children that the stature which

‘Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (ra) attained was because of this humility’.” Anyways, this was Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I’s (ra) humility. This was the humility of a person who had attained high level of knowledge and cognisance and who was amongst the greatest physicians in India, to whom the Promised Messiah (as) awarded with great honour.

However all these things increased him in humility. May Allah the Almighty elevate his status continuously and may He guide those who create disorder in his name and may Allah the Almighty enable us to learn from this model according to the desire of the Promised Messiah (as).

Today Jalsa Salana Muaritius is also being held. Jama’at-e-Ahamdiyya has been established in Mauritius for the past 100 years. They are celebrating their centenary. May Allah the Almighty bless this Jalsa in all aspects and may those 100 years be a source of new advancements and they are able to make new plans.

There are some people in Mauritius who are creating disorder. May Allah the Almighty protect the Jama’at from them and every type of evil and may He bless their Jalsa and all their programmes. “All praise is due to Allah. “We laud Him, we beseech help from Him and ask His protection;

“we confide in Him, we trust Him alone “and we seek protection against the evils and mischief of our souls “and from the bad results of our deeds. “Whomsoever He guides on the right path, none can misguide him; “and whosoever He declares misled, none can guide him onto the right path.

“And we bear witness that none deserves to be worshipped except Allah. “He is alone and has no partner. “We bear witness that Muhammad (saw) is His servant and Messenger. “O servants of Allah! May Allah be merciful to you. “Verily, Allah commands you to act with justice, to confer benefits upon each other

“and to do good to others as one does to one ‘s kindred “and forbids evil which pertain to your own selves “and evils which affect others and prohibits revolts against a lawful authority. “He warns you against being unmindful. “You remember Allah; He too will remember you;

“call Him and He will make a response to your call. “And verily divine remembrance is the highest virtue.”
