Friday Sermon – Khalifatul Masih V – Mirza Masroor Ahmad – Year 2014
Today I will present some extracts, writings and statements of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) in which he has expounded the Signs, miracles and proof of his truthfulness. However, before this, I would like to say something with respect to last week’s Friday Sermon.
In last week’s Friday Sermon, I read out some extracts about the Significance of the Promised Messiah’s (on whom be peace) Divine understanding and the means of attaining it. I provided brief elucidation of some difficult extracts. Later when I heard the initial English translation of the Friday Sermon and I saw the Urdu transcript
Which was presented before me to be published in Al Fazl, I realized that one of the extracts could not be sufficiently explained, as a result of which, some translators of different languages may have experienced difficulty. Similarly the transcribers would also have faced difficulty.
So today I shall present a part of this extract and explain it in easier terms. I will make an effort to do so because the Promised Messiah’s (on whom be peace) knowledge and literature has to be reflected on in depth to be understood. Expounding the fact that acting upon the Divine commandments
Is impossible without Divine understanding, the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) has said: “God has appointed knowledge and understanding “as a principal means of obtaining the true concept of Islam. “Though there are other means for obtaining such knowledge “such as fasting, prayer, supplication and
“carrying out all the Divine commandments, the number of which exceeds 600. “Yet the knowledge of the Greatness of God and of His Unity “and of His attributes of Glory and Beauty is basic for everything. “He who has a heedless heart and has no understanding of the Divine
“cannot obtain the strength to observe the fast, to perform prayer, “to make supplication or to occupy himself with doing good. “All righteous action is incited by understanding of the Divine “and all the other means proceed from it and are its issue.” This extract is extremely important
And this is why I deemed it necessary to explain it further so that even ordinary people can understand it. The first point that the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) has elucidated here is that the reality of Islam can only be understood when a person studies it in depth
And then makes an effort to understand its knowledge and perception. This can only then be attained when a person makes an effort to acquire this understanding and perception. The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said, “There are numerous means “to attain knowledge of the reality of Islam.
“The reality of Islam can only become manifest to such people “who utilize these means.” There are countless means. When an effort is made to utilize them, only then will the reality of Islam become manifest. These means include Salat, prayer, supplication, fasting and all the Divine commandments mentioned in the Holy Qur’an
Which are, in accordance with one estimation, numbering over 600. “However remember nobody can understand the reality of Salat or fasting;” that is to say nobody can truly fulfill the due of either prayer or fasting or understand the reality of prayer nor can one attain true insight and perception into all Divine commandments.
One can truly go in depth, understand its Significanceand learn of its reality when Allah the Almighty’s Greatness becomes known and understood by the person, when one becomes aware of the Oneness of Allah the Almighty, when one holds firm belief that He is the one God and there is no God except him.
Then the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) has said, “One should also know of the various Divine attributes, “which include Jamali (Beauty) and Jalali (Glory) attributes.” “Unless a person possesses knowledge and understanding of the fresh and new Sign “of Allah the Almighty’s Glory and Beauty “he cannot act upon God’s commands.”
When a person has understanding of Allah the Almighty’s attributes, only then will he be able to properly follow his commands. “So as such, if prayer, fasting and all the other Divine commandments “are to be understood in their true spirit, “then we have to come to understand
“as Allah the Almighty has said elsewhere in the Holy Qur’an: “that, ‘Every day He reveals himself in a different state.’ [55:30] “It is necessary to obtain understanding into this.” So to learn the reality of Islam, worship and Divine commandments the fundamental requirement is to be aware of Allah the Almighty’s Greatness.
One should also have understanding of Allah the Almighty’s Oneness, and one should also know of the various aspects of Allah the Almighty’s attributes of Glory and Beauty and various means of manifestation. It is important to try to attain knowledge and understanding of this.
If one does not possess full insight and perception into these attributes, a person should strive in order to fulfill his worship properly and try to act upon the Divine commandments and he should endeavor to understand these Divine attributes because acting upon all Divine attributes is dependent upon this Divine understanding.
The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) has said, “The heart, which is unaware of what understanding of God even is; “of the splendor and glory of the attributes of Allah the Almighty’s Oneness – “how can he possibly be enabled to offer prayer or perform the fast with full justice?
“Or how can he possibly give attention towards giving Sadqa (charity)? “All righteous deeds are incited.” That is, the inspiration that is incited within one’s heart to perform righteous deeds is based upon understanding and perception. The more understanding of Allah the Almighty one has,
Congruently he will understand the spirit of righteous deeds and Ibaadat (worship) and give heed towards acting upon them. So if we give due heed towards understanding Allah the Almighty, we will remain focused upon acting upon Divine commands. Indeed at the outset, as a result of Allah the Almighty’sGraciousness
And Allah the Almighty’s special Grace Divine understanding is bestowed on righteous and pious people. “Then this understanding increases as a result of beautification of one’s faith “and due to one performing righteous deeds “until one reaches a stage where he comes to learn of the reality of Islam”
And Islam does not remain in name only. “Such a person’s heart is illuminated with the understanding of God the Almighty.” So this is what a true Muslim or one who claims to be a true Muslim must make an effort to acquire.
After this explanation, I now come to the subject which I mentioned at the outset: Divine support and Signs in favour of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) has mentioned this in various places and I will present some extracts from this.
Two days from now is the 23rd of March; Promised Messiah day will be celebrated in various Jama’ats. Scholars and orators deliver speeches and discourses with respect to this day. They mention the Signs and Divine help and support, or they give discourses on whatever the relevant topics are
With relation to the advent of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). In any case it is a beautiful coincidence that the subject of today’s Friday Sermon is being presented in this context two days before the Promised Messiah Day. In this respect I should also inform you that this year,
From Qadian there will be a three day programme broadcast live on MTA in Arabic which will be in respect to the Promised Messiah Day. Our Arab friends have travelled to Qadian and they will speak with respect to the importance of this subject and this day;
This programme will Insha’Allah be broadcast from the abode of Qadian. Insha’Allah (God willing), on Sunday I will also give my own message. All should make an effort to benefit from this. Now I shall present some extracts of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). Speaking about his advent and truthfulness
And explaining further the Signs of the lunar and solar eclipse, the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) has said, “In Sahih Dar-Qutni, “the following hadith has been related by Imam Muhammad Baqir, ‘Arabic’ “The translation of this is; ‘Here are two Signs for our Mahdi,
‘and ever since God created the Heavens and Earth, ‘these two Signs have never appeared at the time of any other Appointed One ‘or Messenger of God.’ “One of them is that, in the time of the Promised Mahdi, “during the month of Ramadan, the lunar eclipse will take place on the first night,
“that is on the thirteenth; “while the solar eclipse will take place on the middle of its days, “that is on the twenty-eighth day of the month of Ramadan. “Such a phenomenon has never occurred at the time of any Messenger or Prophet “since the beginning of the world.
“It was destined to occur only at the time of the Promised Mahdi. “All English and Urdu newspapers and all astronomers testify that in my time, “lunar and solar eclipses of this particular description did take place about twelve years ago, “during the month of Ramadan.
“Just as another Hadith relates, the eclipse took place twice in the month of Ramadan. “First in this country and the second time in America “and it came to pass both times during the dates the Hadith refers to. “Since at the time these eclipses took place,
“no one in the world, except me, claimed to be the Mahdi “and no one declared the eclipse to be a Sign of him being the Mahdi like I did; “publishing hundreds of posters and pamphlets in Urdu, Persian and Arabic around the world, “therefore this heavenly Sign is deSignated to me.
“The other proof of this is that Allah the Exalted informed me that “the Sign will come to pass twelve years prior to its manifestation “and that was published in Barahin e Ahamdiyya “and distributed among hundreds of thousands of people before the appearance of the Sign.”
Although today there are people who try to provide various explanations for the lunar and solar eclipses, however the distinction is that the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) had said beforehand that this Sign would manifest. Then the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace), further explaining this matter says,
“This Hadith is based on a matter of the Unseen that came to pass after 1300 years.” “Its summary is that, at the time of the Promised Messiah’s appearance, “there will be lunar eclipse on the 13th night during the month of Ramadan
“and solar eclipse will take place in the same month on the 28th day. “Such a phenomenon will not occur at the time of any other claimant “apart from the Promised Mahdi. “It is evident, only a Prophet can foretell something as manifest as this Sign. “In the Holy Qur’an, Allah the Almighty states
“That ‘He is the Knower of the unseen; and He reveals not His secrets to any one, ‘Except to him whom He chooses, namely a Messenger of His.’ [72:27-28] “So since this prophecy has been completely fulfilled in light of its meanings, “to say that it is a weak Hadith,
“or the words of Imam Muhammad Baqir are weak, are merely lame excuses. “The fact is people just do not want any prophecy “of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) or of the Holy Qur’an to be fulfilled. Now this Sign of truthfulness was indeed a fulfilment of the prophecy
Of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) states, “The world has reached close to its end “but according to them, no prophecy about the latter-days has been fulfilled. “Now which other Hadith can be more authentic than this,
“as it is has not even been criticised by the Muhaddith, “in fact it has shown its own authenticity and strength, that its validity is of high order. “It is a different matter not to accept God’s Signs, “otherwise it is a magnificent and glorious Sign
“of which thousands of scholars and Muhadditheen were hopeful and waiting for its manifestation “and they would stand upon pulpits “and deliver speeches cry to remind people about it. “The latest of them was in this age; “Maulwi Lukhokay wrote a poetic verse in his book ‘Ahwalul Aakharat’ about this eclipse
“which relates the time of the Promised Mahdi.” It is a verse in the Punjabi language, which means that, it is written in a Tradition that a solar eclipse will take place in the thirteenth century in the month of Ramadan. “Another saint whose poetic verse has been renowned for centuries writes,
[the translation of which is] ‘when solar and lunar eclipse will take place in one month during the 14th century, ‘that will be a Sign of the advent of the Promised Mahdi and Dajjal.’ “This poetic verse gives the correct time of lunar and solar eclipses.” Then with regards to Allah the Almighty’s communication
With the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) even before he made his claim, he mentions an incident and Allah the Almighty’s reassurance by way of revelation and Sign: “When I was informed that my father would pass away after sunset, “then owing to the human condition I felt pain after hearing this news,
“My source of income was mostly associated with his person. “He received a pension from the British government “as well as a large stipend which would last as long as he lived. “Therefore the thought crossed my mind as to what will happen after his death
“and fear developed in my heart that perhaps days of suffering would come upon us. “This thought came into my mind, like a flash of lightning, only lasting a second. “Drowsiness overcame me at that time and another revelation came upon me ‘Is Allah not sufficient for His servant?’ “This Divine revelation strengthened my heart
“like an extremely painful wound is suddenly healed by ointment. “In reality, this has been experienced so many times “that Divine revelation has a unique quality of providing tranquillity to the heart. “The root of this quality is the belief one has in Divine revelation.
“It is a pity that some people who, despite this revelation and its benefit, “they say that these revelations are conjectural; “they are not sure if they are satanic or Divine mercy “and they say that such revelations cause more harm than are of benefit.
“However, I swear by God Almighty that I believe in these revelations “like I believe in the Holy Qur’an and God’s other Books. “Just as I know the Holy Qur’an to be the absolute and certain Word of God Almighty,
“similarly I believe that what is revealed to me is also most certainly the Word of God. “This is because with this, I see Divine illumination and brightness and light “and I also see examples of God’s powers through it! “In short, when I received the revelation: ‘Is Allah not sufficient for His servant?’
“I instantly understood God will not cause me to go to waste. “I wrote down this revelation and gave it to a Hindu who lives in Qadian and is still alive. “I related the entire account to him and sent him to Amritsar “so that the revelation can be inscribed on a stone
“through Hakeem Maulvi Muhammad Sharif Kalanoori and have it set in a ring. “I selected this Hindu for this task purely for the purpose “that he could be a witness to this glorious and splendid prophecy “and Maulvi Muhammad Sharif may also be a witness.
“So thus the ring was was sent to me through the Maulvi Sahib in question “at the cost of five rupees and I still have this ring in my possession. “This revelation came at such a time when all my expenses and comforts “were entirely reliant and dependent on my father’s small income
“and no one knew me from elsewhere. “I was a completely unknown person living a life in the isolated village of Qadian. “Later, in accordance with the prophecy of Allah the Almighty, “He turned an entire world towards me “and He provided financial help with such repeated and constant successes
“that I do not have sufficient words to express my gratitude for this. “Considering my circumstances, I never had such hope “to have a monthly income of ten rupees. “However, God the Almighty lifts humble people from dust and rubs the arrogant in dust.
“He supported me in such a way that I can say with complete certainty “that to date, 300,000 rupees have been received or perhaps even more. “This income should be seen in the context that for year upon year “the Langar Khana expenditure alone would be approximately 1,500 per month to run.
“Other expenses, like for the Madrassa “and publication and publishing of books are separate to this. “So thus it should be seen that this prophecy “was fulfilled with such clarity and glory “Is this the task of a liar or are these satanic misgivings? “Most certainly not; on the contrary this is from God,
“in Whose hand is honour, abasement, misery and prosperity. “If this statement of mine is not believed then look at the official postal registers “of the past twenty years to see how much income was received in this period.” Now these Langars (catering facilities)
Have been established all over the world with the grace of the Almighty Allah. It is also established here on permanent foundations due to Khilafat. This is a vital and important branch of the tasks of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace).
So thus those who are responsible for theLangar here, who are responsible for Ziafat, should give special heed towards each individual who comes. Indeed extravagance and wastage is not right. There should be proper planning however, there should not be any miserliness in any way because this is not your Langar;
It is the Promised Messiah’s (on whom be peace), which continues to run. At times complaints are sent with regard to Ziafat. Some people complain about the Ziafat team or about the office holders. They should give heed towards this everywhere in the world and especially here.
Similarly heed should be given in Rabwah and Qadian. With the relation to the progress of the Jama’at, the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) mentions in one of his prophecies that, “There is a prophecy in Barahin e Ahmadiyya about the progress of this community.”
In other words, “first there will be a seed that will send forth its sprout; “it will then become strong, and stand firm on its stem. “This was an immense prophecy made twenty five years ago, before the creation of this community. “At the time there was no Jama’at
“nor was anyone connected to me in Bai’at (pledge of initiation). “In fact, no-one was even aware of my name. “Later, with the grace of the Almighty Allah, “this Jama’at was established which is more than 300,000 strong now.” This was at the time of writing.
He continues, “I was like a small seed planted by God’s hand. “I remained concealed for a long period of time “and later, my advent took place and I had many branches. “Thus this prophecy was fulfilled merely through the grace of God Almighty.”
Today we observe that the Jama’at is established in 204 countries of the world and there are tens of millions of followers. Through the means of MTA, the message of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) is conveyed to the corners of the world.
Elsewhere the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace), referring to a Sign, says “There is another prophecy also recorded in Barahin-e- Ahmadiyya “that, Allah will shield you from all calamities, “even though people do not wish to see you saved from them. “This prophecy goes back to the time when I lived in obscurity;
“no-one had any relationship with me, either of Bai’at or that of enmity.” There is only a question of being saved when there is any enmity. When a person is not even known, how can there be enmity? He continues, “Subsequently, when I claimed to be the Promised Messiah,
“all the Maulwis and their ilk flared up like fire. “In those days a clergyman, Dr. Martyn Clark, instituted a caseof murder against me, “which brought home to me the fact that the Maulvis of the Punjab were thirsty for my blood, “and that they considered me even worse than a Christian
“who is the enemy of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and abuses him. “This was because some Maulvis appeared in court against me “and testified in favour of the clergyman, while others were busy praying that he may win. “I have it on good authority that they would pray in the mosques crying:
‘O God, help this clergyman and grant him victory.’ “But God, the All-Knowing, heard none of their supplications. “Neither the witnesses succeeded in their testimonies, “nor the supplicants in their prayers. “So much for the ulema, the so-called defenders of the faith, “and so much for the so-called Ummah!
“They tried their utmost and used all means at their disposal to send me to the gallows, “and supported one who was an enemy of God and His Messenger (peace be upon him). “Here the question will naturally cross one’s mind “as to how I was saved from this blazing fire
“while all the Maulwis and their followers had become my mortal enemies, “and eight or nine witnesses had already appeared before the court to secure my conviction? “The answer is that I was protected by the One Who had promised me twenty-five years ago that
‘though my nation will not protect me and will even try to destroy me ‘but God will protect me’. “It was also in accordance with what God had foretold twenty-five years ago “and what had been recorded in Barahin-e- Ahmadiyya, “that God cleared him of the charge brought against him,
“and he has a high standing and noble in the sight of God.” And look today this revelation has come to pass with splendour when the great grandson of Martyn Clark expressed before us that his great grandfather was wrong and the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) was truthful.
This has been recorded and he said this openly at Jalsa Salana. The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) mentions with respect to another Sign, “Maulwi Ghulam Dastagir of Kasur published in his booklet ‘Fateh Rahmani’ “which was written in 1315 Hijri in my opposition and which was published in Ludhiana.
“In it he invokes a malediction upon me in the way of a Mubahla (prayer duel). “This is included in pages 26 to 27 of his book. “It is said, ‘just as you God had ruined a liar and false claimant to be Mahdi
‘through the prayer and endeavour of the religious scholar who was born in his time ‘similarly this humble person from Kasur prays and pleads to Allah, ‘who is serving Your religion with sincerity of the heart to the best of his ability ‘that You enable Mirza Qadiani and his disciples and followers to sincerely repent
‘and if this is not decreed to be, then make them a Sign of these Quranic verses. ‘That is, ‘All praise to Allah, Who has power over everything ‘and Who listens to prayer.’ “In the footnote of page 26 of the said book the said Maulwi wrote regarding me,
‘May he and his followers be destroyed.’ “So with the grace of Almighty Allah I am still alive “and my disciples have doubled in number since that time.” Now this has increased in hundreds of thousands since then. He continues that, “evidently Maulwi Ghulam Dastgir had left the decisiveness
“of my truthfulness or falsehood on the verse mentioned. “So the very roots of the people who did wrong were cut off. “It is not hidden from anyone knowledgeable that “the purport of the aforementioned verse is known to take effect on an individual “who is an oppressor, wrong doer and cruel.
“Thus it was essential that the cruel person was destroyed through its impact. “As Ghulam Dastgir was cruel in the sight of God Almighty, “he did not even get the respite to see the publication of his book “and he died beforehand. “Everyone knows he died a few days after making this prayer.
“Some foolish Maulwis write that Ghulam Dastgir did not give a Mubahla (prayer duel) challenge “and only invoked a prayer upon the wrong doer. “But I say that since he asked God’s verdict through my death and called me cruel “then why did the prayer rebound on him?
“And why did God kill Ghulam Dastgir at such a critical time “when people anticipated Divine verdict, “whereas he wished my death in his prayer “so that he could prove to the world that just as a false Mahdi and Messiah had died “through the prayer of Muhammad Tahir, “this person died through my prayer.
“Why did his prayer have the opposite effect? “It is true that a false Mahdi and Messiah died through the prayer of Muhammad Tahir “and was emulating Muhammad Tahir that Ghulam Dastgir invoked a prayer on me. “So it should be reflected that what the effect of the prayer of Muhammad Tahir was
“and what the effect of Ghulam Dastgir’s prayer upon me was! “If it is said that Ghulam Dastgir died by coincidence or chance, “then also say that the false Mahdi had died by chance “and there with no credit to Muhammad Tahir. “The curse of Allah be upon the liars.
“About eleven years have passed since Ghulam Dastgir’s death; “he who was the wrong doer was destroyed by God and his home was ruined. “Now say with justice whose root was cut off and on whom did this prayer befall. “In other words, ‘Oh Prophet, they wishfully await for calamities to befall you, ‘let evil befall them instead.’ “Thus, in light of this noble verse, “it is the way of Allah that anyone who invokes a prayer against the truthful, “the same prayer falls on him.
“This way of Allah is evident from verses of the Qur’an and Hadith. “So thus now profess did Ghulam Dastgir die of this prayer against me or not? “Do say what is the secret? “That although a false Messiah died through the malediction of Muhammad Tahir
“but the one who invoked the prayer on me died himself! “God did extend my age, eleven years on I am alive “but Ghulam Dastgir was not even given the respite of one month!” Then with respect to the Sign of eloquence in speech,
The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) says that, “There is a prophecy in Barahin e Ahmadiyya: ‘You will be granted eloquence in Arabic language which no one will be able to equal.’ “Thus no one has been able to equal this until now. “About this, a revelation was received from God Almighty:
‘Your discourse has been made eloquent by the Noble Lord.’ “The Arabic books I have written so far, some of which are prose and others poetry books “and no scholars among our detractors can match them. They are: “Page 73 to 282 of Anjaam Aatham, pages of A’ina Kamalat Islam, Karamat-us-Sadiqeen,
“Hamamatul Bushra, Seeratul Abdal, Nurul Haq, Parts I and II, “Tuhfa Bughdad, Ijazul Masih, Ittemamul Hujjah, Hujjatullah, Sirrul Khalafa, “Muwahibur Rahman, Ijaz e Ahmadi, Khutbah Illhamiyya, Al Huda, “Alamatul Muqarabin, Tadhkiratush Shahadatain “and books which have been written in Arabic but have not yet been printed they are: “Targhibul Momineen, Lujjatun Noor, Najmul Huda.”
The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) made this prophecy by Allah the Almighty and then these books were written. The eloquence of these books is acclaimed by Arabs. A few Friday Sermons ago I have mentioned this by way of accounts. The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) says that,
“Once a Hindu came to me in Qadian. “I do not remember his name. “He said, ‘I want to conduct a religious conference. ‘You should write an article about the excellences of your religion to present in this conference.’ “I excused myself but he insisted that I write something.
“I was aware, through my personal abilities, I could not do anything because I have no strength. “I cannot speak without Allah making me speak and I cannot see anything without Allah making me see “so I prayed to God that He may reveal to me a discourse
“that may triumph over all the other speeches that would be made in that Conference. “After this supplication, I found that a power had been breathed into me, “and I felt this heavenly power stirring within me. “My friends who were present at the time know that
“I did not write any preliminary draft of this paper. “Whatever I wrote, I wrote extemporaneously. “And I wrote the manuscript so quickly and with such flow “that the copyist found it hard to keep pace with me. “When I finished writing the paper, I received this revelation from God Almighty
“that ‘The paper transcends all others.’ “Thus when the paper was being read out in that conference, “the audience were enthralled “and exclamations of acclaim were heard from every corner. “So much so that the Hindu gentleman who presided over the conference, “could not help exclaiming, ‘The paper transcends all others.’
“An English daily, The Civil and Military Gazette which is published from Lahore, “also recorded its testimony, ‘The paper transcends all others.’ “Approximately 20 Urdu newspapers also gave the same testimony. “With the exception of a few prejudiced individuals, “everyone present bore out that this paper had surpassed all others.
“To this day there are hundreds of people who continue to give the same testimony. “Thus with the testimony of every sect, as well as of the English newspapers, “my prophecy, ‘The paper transcends all others’, was fulfilled. “This challenge was like the one that Prophet Moses (on whom be peace)
“had to take up against the sorcerers, “for in this Conference exponents of different schools of thought “delivered speeches about their respective faiths. “Some of them were Christians, some were Hindus of Sanatan Dharam or Arya Samaj, “some were Brahmus, some were Sikhs and some were Muslims who oppose us.
“All of them had turned their sticks into imaginary snakes, “but when God unleashed the rod of the truth of Islam against them “in the form of a pure and profound discourse, “it turned into a python and devoured all other snakes.
“To this day people are all praise for the address that issued from my mouth. “Praise be to Allah for this.” This was not only in that time. Even today, people who read it acclaim it. This is why I always say that this book should be distributed amongst our literature.
Many non-Ahmadis write to me saying that, after reading this book, they have come to learn of the beauty of Islam. When I ask new converts what affected them, many people reply that The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam was the book that impacted them and drew their attention towards the Jama’at.
The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said, “This prophecy that, ‘I will not leave you until I distinguish between pure and impure’ “was manifested in that time. “So you can see that despite your fierce opposition and your prayers against me, “God has not forsaken me, and has defended me in every field.
“He protected me with His own hand from every stone that was hurled at me. “Every arrow that was shot at me was returned by Him to the enemy. “I was helpless, He gave me shelter. “I was alone, He took me into His bosom. “I was nothing, He brought me renown and honour
“and caused hundreds of thousands to become devoted to me. “He further says, in the same holy revelation that, ‘when My help reaches you, ‘and My words are fulfilled, when My servants turn to you ‘and all kinds of financial help reaches you then will it be said to the disbelievers:
‘Look, has everything not been fulfilled, concerning which you showed such impatience?’ “Today all those things have come to pass. “There is no need to mention that God kept His promise “and caused hundreds of thousands of people to turn towards me, “and gave me such financial support as was beyond anyone’s imagination.
“O, my opponents! May God have mercy on you, and may He open your eyes. “Just think, can all this be a result of human trickery? “These promises had been made at the time when I wrote Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya, “ and it was ridiculous even to speak of these things at that time,
“and my own worth was no more than that of a mustard seed. “Who among you can deny this statement? “Who among you can prove that these thousands of people were with me at that time? “I was completely unknown when Barahin-e- Ahmadiyya was published.
“This book was printed in a press in Amritsar “which was owned by a Christian clergyman named Rajab Ali. “I would travel all alone to Amritsar to check the proofs “and come back alone also, “and no one would even ask me who I was, nor did anyone know me,
“nor did I enjoy any honourable position. “Even the Aryas of Qadian are witness to this, “and one of them, Sharampat by name, still lives in Qadian. “He would at times accompany me to Padre Rajab Ali’s press in Amritsar “where my book Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya was being printed.
“All the prophecies were transcribed by Rajab Ali’s scribe, “and he himself would read those prophecies, soliloquising “and wondering how a whole world would turn towards such an ordinary man. “But because those words were from God, and not of my own making,
“they came true in their own good time and continue to do so. “At one time, people’s eyes regarded them with astonishment, “and at another time they beheld their fulfilment.” Now, with grace of the Almighty Allah, they are gloriously being fulfilled through MTA. This message is being conveyed everywhere.
Before he would go to the press in Amritsar. Today in Qadian, with the grace of the Almighty Allah, all new facilities and technologies are present in our press there and books are published. The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) said “God has demonstrated more than 300,000 Signs of my truthfulness
“and there were lunar and solar eclipses shown in Ramadan for this purpose. “A person who does not believe the word of God and His Messenger “and denies the Holy Qur’an and practically dismisses the Signs of Allah the Exalted “and in spite of hundreds of Signs, considers me a deceiver,
“how can he be a believer?” I have presented but a few Signs. There are hundreds of thousands of Signs. All these Signs are in support of the truthfulness of the Promised Messiah which did not cease in his time but continue today with the Grace of Allah. Thousands of people witness these Signs
And are entering into the community taking the Bai’at (pledge of initiation). They come into the Bai’at of the ardent devotee of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). In some places, Ahmadis have to face difficulties and suffering. God willing, a time will come when they also end.
Our faith and conviction and understanding of God will all increase and be witnessed. The Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) says, “For God’s sake all should reflect a little at this point so that God rewards them for it. “God is not finished with His Signs and His help
“and I swear by Him that He will not stop them “until my truthfulness is made evident to the world. “So all those people who hear me! “Fear God and do not exceed limits. “Had this been a man-made operation, God would have ruined me “and there would have been nothing left of this movement.
“But you have seen how God’s help has been with me “and incalculable Signs have been revealed. “How many opponents tried to carry out Mubahla (prayer duel) with me and were destroyed. “Oh creation of God, think a little, “is this how God Almighty deals with liars?” As I said, today 125 years have passed
And the Jama’at is continually progressing. So will these people not utilise their wisdom? Will our opponents not refrain from their opposition? It is our prayer alone to God Almighty that Allah grants them sense and they may come to accept the Imam of the age, the Promised Messiah.
When God’s wrath descends, it seizes people no matter how powerful the opponents may be, it blows them like dust and turns them into cinders! May Allah the Almighty grant them wisdom and may they come to understand the truth. Once again, today I would like to make a request for prayers.
Pray for the Ahmadis in Syria especially; also pray Ahmadis in Pakistan in particular. Similarly there are Ahmadis in Egypt who are facing difficulties. May Allah the Almighty remove all their problems. May we also witness Signs in this respect so that they can freely practice their religion and faith.
May they also be those who submit to God the Almighty. Where we have restrictions to not carry out worship and prayer, may these restrictions come to an end everywhere by Allah the Almighty. Today, after the Friday prayers, I will also lead a funeral prayer in absentia
Of Respected Sister Latifa Ilyas of Baltimore, USA. She passed away on 9 March and returned to her Lord. Surely to Allah we belong and to Him shall we return. She was an African American lady who accepted Ahmadiyyat more than 50 years ago. She was 76 years old at the time of her demise.
She was an extremely simple, righteous and pious Ahmadi. She had extreme devotion to Khilafat. She is survived by her son Jamal Ilyas, who is a righteous and sincere Ahmadi. Her Sadr Jama’at writes that, “In spite of her limited resources, “Sister Latifa used to bring cleaning materials from home
“and spent hours cleaning the mosque. “She cleaned at a time she thought no one would be in the mosque “to see her carrying out this task so that there would be no form of pretence in this. “She would always be carrying out tasbeeh,
“she would be praising Allah the Almighty and glorifying God even during cleaning. “During Ramadan Mubarak, she would always came to the mosque “two hours before Iftar and clean the kitchen. “She never complained about why people leave mess around.”
She would always say that the service of the faith be considered a blessing and grace. She was a practical illustration of this. Even at the age of 70, she would walk to the mosque. If, out of respect, anyone passing the mosque offered her a lift, she would refuse.
She said that, “according to the hadith, every step towards the mosque is a source of blessings. “So allow me to walk there.” She would carry out duties including security duties. For a long time she served as secretary in an excellent manner. She never had any personal grievances with anyone.
She always had great affection for children. She was very particular about listening to the Friday Sermon on MTA and would always inculcate others to do so. She considered it an obligation to attend Jumuah. Her son Jamal Ilyas could not attend the Friday prayer for some weeks so she asked why.
He responded, as result of his new job, he could not have any time off so she particularly inculcated in him that he should not leave off the Friday Sermon so the impact this had upon her son was that he said that whenever the Friday Sermon came on MTA,
Even when driving, he made sure to listen to it. This was how she trained her son. The person writing also said she was beautiful example of the truthfulness of the Signs of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) and greatly loyal to Khilafat. May Allah the Almighty treat her with forgiveness.
Those people should take heed to this, who do not give any importance to listening to the Friday Sermon on MTA and do not listen to it. If every member of the Jama’at connects themselves with MTA and gives attention towards it,
With the Grace of the Almighty Allah, the moral standard of the Jama’at can increase greatly. May Allah the Almighty enable this to be so. May Allah the Almighty elevate the rank of the deceased and may Allah the Almighty enable for her son to continue her pious acts.
