Friday Sermon – Khalifatul Masih V – Mirza Masroor Ahmad – Year 2012

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah I bear witness that Muhammad (saw) is the Messenger of Allah. Come to Prayer Come to success Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is none worthy of worship except Allah.

I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah He is alone and has no partner and I bear witness that Muhammad (saw) is His Servant and Messenger After this I seek refuge with Allah from Satan the accursed. In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.

All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds. The Gracious, the Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we implore for help. Guide us in the right path The path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy blessings,

Those who have not incurred Thy displeasure, and those who have not gone astray. [Arabic – Holy Qur’an 11: 3-4] These are the 3rd and 4th verses of Surah-Al-Hud. The translation of these is: “It teaches that you should worship none but Allah.

“I am to you a Warner, and a bearer of glad tidings from Him; “And that you seek forgiveness of your Lord, and then turn to Him. “He will provide for you a goodly provision until an appointed term. “And He will grant His grace to everyone possessed of merit.

“And if you turn away, then surely, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful day. Now days, there is mayhem widespread in one way or another almost everywhere in the world and this is a result of man forgetting the real purpose of his creation

That is devotion towards the worship of Allah Almighty and to make an effort to achieve nearness to Allah Almighty. Nearness to Allah Almighty cannot be achieved without worship. And what is worship? Just observing or offering the five obligatory prayers, at five times alone is not sufficient.

These prayers should be offered in an elegant way and then by just offering these prayers in a visible elegant way would not discharge the due of worship. On the contrary, it is also necessary for oneself in every single matter to keep the existence of Allah Almighty in sight.

It also demands to make an effort to infuse in colour of Allah Almighty. It necessitates following in the footsteps of the blessed model of the Holy Prophet (saw) in every matter. It also necessitates keeping the attributes of Allah Almighty in sight and trying to mould oneself in accordance with these attributes.

It also necessitates making an utmost effort to discharge the duty of the rights of Allah and the rights of mankind. When this state will be attained then a person will become the one who discharges the right of worship and will become a believer. The Promised Messiah (as) regarding this says that:

“A curious matter has been indicated as an answer about the question of God that is “so many details which have been mentioned, what is the gist and essence of all of that?” Countless commentaries have been described, details have been described, there are

Commandments within the Holy Qur’an, but what is the gist and essence of those? So, the Promised Messiah (saw) says that “The Holy Qur’an mentions: You should worship none but Allah (11:3). “The fact is that the real cause of the creation of man is this worship.” This is the main reason of the creation.

“Just as it says at another place: “And I have not created the Jinn and the men but that they may worship Me (51:57). “Worship really means that a person eradicates hard-heartedness and crookedness and “makes the land of his heart so clear that “it should resemble the land ploughed by a farmer.” (Before sowing)

“The Arabs says; pulverise Kohl. “Like antimony is pulverised into a very fine powder so that it can used as a Kohl for the eyes. “Likewise, when there is no stone, or pebble or bumpiness in the land of the heart and

“is so pure as if it is nothing but the soul and only soul then it can be called worship. “Hence if this adjustment and cleanliness can be done on a mirror then an image is visible in it.

“And if a piece of land is cleared like this then all sorts and kinds of fruits grow in it. “Thus, a man who has been created to worship, if he cleans the heart and “leaves no crookedness and unevenness, pebbles and stones therein, God will be seen in it.”

Thus, this is worship that every single thing should be done for the sake of Allah Almighty. Smooth the ground in the same way as a farmer ploughs the ground before sowing crops. Shine the heart like a transparent sparkling mirror in which one’s image is visible.

When such will be the state then just like fruits grow and good fruits grow in a well-prepared land of a farmer, likewise fruits will be grown in the heart and in the soul of a person. Then the Promised Messiah (as) further says: “Do not submit until stones and pebbles

“are moved away from heart’s land, apart from Allah, and it becomes purified like a mirror “and pulverised like fine Kohl.” Thus, this is the way that one has to continually try to reach to such a state and a believer should not rest and should not submit until he achieves such a state.

Thus, in order to protect from today’s disorder and to seek grace of Allah Almighty, there is need to connect to Allah Almighty with sincerity. Mostly it happens that a person is not directly involved in discord or evil but the influence of the environment pulls him into discord or evil.

And he becomes a part of that and in one way or another involves in it. Due to which, he not only fails to fulfil the rights due to him, but unwittingly such a person becomes the part of oppression. An obvious example of this is what is happening nowadays with Ahmadis in certain countries.

Some people who are completely unfamiliar with Ahmadiyyat, they also, due to opponents of Ahmadiyyat and especially in Pakistan because of country’s law, in many places use disrespectful language against the Promised Messiah (as). They place their signature on the documents where such disrespectful language is used. Thus, the worship of such people subconsciously is

Aimed at gaining nearness of worldly people rather than God Almighty. Apparently, they offer prayers, but maybe not in their hearts however unconsciously, they are not motivated to attain those virtues towards which Allah Almighty has drawn the attention. And this matter that when religion is entangled with worldly matters,

And when discord is found in religion then both rights of Allah and rights of mankind are trampled. This is what happens in history of religions that at one stage discord appears in religion, And that is why God Almighty has established a system of sending Prophets towards nations

So that after sometime when religion diverts away from its origin and when its soul disintegrates, then to warn nations, to return them towards true faith, to establish the true soul of worship, Prophets play their role by obtaining guidance directly from Allah Almighty.

And when God Almighty sent the Holy Prophet (saw) so where through him, the true manners and ways of worshiping Allah Almighty were taught to Muslims, taught to believers, the Holy Prophet (saw) who was the perfect man within whom attributes of God Almighty were reflected,

To the highest extent which are possible to form perfectly in a man, then afterwards we were commanded that this Messenger is a blessed model for us. If you follow him, you will reach Me. He is that Messenger whose obligatory and voluntary prayers were not only worship rather every word or deed was worship.

Thus, attain these standards of worship. Although religion till the day of judgement has been perfected with the Shariah revealed to this beloved Prophet, however despite this, God Almighty Himself also declared and said it through the Holy Prophet (saw) that as always been

This tradition that after a period of time religion is diverted away from its origin, similarly a state of disorder and distance from religion would happen in Muslims as well. Although the Holy Prophet (saw) is the last Prophet, no Prophet can come after him bringing a new Shariah.

His Book is the final law-bearing Book. But despite this, it is said that such a state would develop when distance from faith would happen and when it would reach its worst point, then in complete submission of the Holy Prophet (saw),

His true and ardent devotee would come from God Almighty to establish religion in the world and would explain the real worth of worship. And he would do this owing to his subservience to the Holy Prophet (saw). Unfortunately, a large majority of Muslims have not understood this.

And they are distant from that person who is calling towards the true worship of Allah Almighty instead each sect of Muslims have adopted their own way. Due to which in the world, particularly in the Muslim world, only discord has been created but nothing else.

And not only this, but such people are bringing the name of Islam into disrepute. The Holy Prophet (saw) just as fourteen hundred years ago was the Warner, today the Holy Prophet (saw) is also the Warner. As the aforementioned verse cites: [Arabic] “I am to you a Warner, and a bearer of glad tiding”,

The Holy Prophet (saw) was a Warner then and remains to this day. His era will last till the Day of Judgement and he still warns and alerts people. Today as well, the Holy prophet (saw) warns and alerts both Muslims and Non-Muslims.

A Warner is not someone who only warns people, rather he also alerts people to avoid what is bad in order to aware people to protect themselves from vices and bad acts. This is what he says, that I am the Warner.

Moving away from the Islamic teachings will lead to losses in this world and the next. Regardless of verbally professing the Kalima (Muslim Creed) if one does not practise all aspects of religion, one is prone to face losses. But if one understands this truth that

The advent of one who was promised to come in the latter days in accordance with the Holy Qur’an to facilitate nearness to God and teach ways of worship of God then one would receive the glad tiding of this world and the hereafter.

The Promised Messiah (as) says about attaining means of nearness to Allah Almighty: “It is true that man cannot attain this objective “without the help of a pure-natured person. “Therefore, for this arrangement and accomplishment, Allah Almighty sent the “perfect model of the Holy Prophet (saw) and

“then started a lasting succession of his true successors.” The Promised Messiah (as) says: “It is a proven fact that a young person who is not from a farming family “will cut off the real plants as he gets on with weeding. “Similarly, this spiritual farming

“cannot be done in a perfect manner unless one is under a perfect person, “who has accomplished all the stages of sowing, irrigation and weeding. “This illustrates that man is in need of a perfect spiritual teacher. “Without a perfect spiritual teacher, worship by man is like an ignorant and unaware child

“sitting in a field cutting off plants, while in his assumption he is weeding. “Do not ever assume that you will learn ways of worship on your own. “Certainly not; not until the Prophet teaches, “the paths of complete and devout absorption in Allah cannot be found.”

One cannot have full attention towards Allah Almighty and will not be able to identify Him without this. The Promised Messiah (as) says: “The natural question thus arises; “how can this difficult task be fulfilled? He Himself gave its solution.” “And what solution has been presented by Allah Almighty in this regard?

“The solution given for this is Istighfar (seeking forgiveness) that carry out Istighfar. “When one performs Istighfar with sincerity and devotion, seeks forgiveness for sins “whilst striving to follow the model of the messenger of Allah Almighty, and try to remain

“determined to distant from sins in the future then that will be deemed as true Istighfar.” But this should be clarified that the Promised Messiah (as) has stated that: “He (God Almighty) sends true successors.” Allah Almighty first sent the Holy prophet (saw), then after him in this age and for always,

The successor of the Holy Prophet (saw) is the Promised Messiah (as) whom God has also called Khatamul Khulafa (seal of all Khulafa). Thus, God Almighty certainly guides those who engage in sincere Istighfar and try to fulfil the dues of worship if ones follow the true successor and follows his commands.

One should accept the ambassador sent by Allah Almighty and follow his teachings. Anyhow, as the Promised Messiah (as) says that : “Allah Almighty has given Istighfar as its solution.” The second verse recited at the beginning of the sermon teaches ways of Istighfar. How Istighfar should be performed?

The translation of that verse is: “And that you seek forgiveness of your Lord, “and then turn to Him. “He will provide for you a goodly provision until an appointed term. “And He will grant His grace to everyone possessed of merit.

“And if you turn away, then surely, I fear for you the punishment of a colossal day.” Thus, as I stated, that Allah Almighty guides the one who performs real Istighfar. In the beginning of this verse Allah Almighty has described this reality that seeks forgiveness from Allah Almighty.

Seeks His help from Himself, pray from Him that He washes away spiritual corrosion, but it requires endurance . Then Allah Almighty in accordance with His promises would help such a person. But if a person adopts one path today then another tomorrow and does not remain steadfast in doing Istighfar

Then it is not true Istighfar according to Allah Almighty. Thus, real Istighfar is this that a person prays to Allah Almighty to seek protection from those thoughts and sentiments which are displeased by God Almighty and which stop one from reaching to God Almighty and when this standard is attained,

This ability to suppress sentiments then the state of seeking true forgiveness from Allah will be created. Such a state will be developed when a person then determinedly tries to follow the directives of Allah Almighty and so when this will be the state then man gains nearness to Allah Almighty.

Thus, one should remember always that true Istighfar does not constitute mere words but in addition to this, one has to try and change one’s inner self and this is what attains nearness to Allah Almighty. When a person reforms his state then that person, as mentioned before, receives spiritual and worldly benefits.

There are benefits of this world and the hereafter in it. A person becomes recipient of blessings of Allah Almighty. In light of this verse, the Promised Messiah (as) says: [Arabic] “You should remember that this Umma has been granted two things.

“One is to obtain strength and the other is for a practical display of that strength.” One aspect is to obtain the power and the strength that strength is obtained through which a person can be saved from vices and evil. The second aspect is what power and strength has been obtained,

It should be practically demonstrated as well. Then every word and deed of a person should be in accordance with the commandments of Allah Almighty, which become the means of acquiring Allah’s pleasure. The Promised Messiah (as) says: “In order to obtain strength, Istighfar has been given to

“the Muslims, which in other words can be called asking for help.” Seeking help from Allah Almighty. Istighfar in other words means to seek help from Allah Almighty. “The mystics have said that just as one gets physical strength through exercise with dumbbells

“and other fitness equipment, so in the same way, Istighfar is spiritual exercise.” Continual Istighfar results in better spiritual state of a person and one attains strength. The Promised Messiah (as) says: “Through it, the soul obtains strength and “the heart achieves steadfastness. “He who desires strength should do Istighfar.”

He who desires to increase his spiritual strength should do more and more Istighfar. “Ghafar means to cover up or press down.” With Istighfar one tries to cover up or press down the low passions which keep him away from, God Almighty, if a person would perform Istighfar, then

That person can suppress those sentiments and emotions that hinder one from implementing commands of Allah Almighty. That prevent from doing good deeds. The details of this have been mentioned in hundreds of commandments of the Holy Qur’an. The Promised Messiah (as) has stated at one place that if even one commandment and

One good deed is not given significance, then that means you are not making sufficient efforts. The Promised Messiah (as) says: “Thus, Istighfar actually means “that one should try to press down the poisonous matter which attacks the man to destroy him.” Now what are the poisonous elements? These are the attacks of Satan.

These are attractions of the world. Not refraining from performing those forbidden acts which Allah Almighty has mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. All of these are the poisonous elements. So, when a person performs Istighfar then the person is protected from these poisonous elements,

From these bad acts, from these vices and then good deeds will overcome these vices. Then the Promised Messiah (as) says: “When one avoids, impediments of the way which “leads to implementation of the commandments of God Almighty, “one actually practises these commandments.

“This should also be remembered that there are two kinds of matters to be found in human beings. “One, the poisonous matter which is handled by the Satan.” That is, one is a toxic matter to which Satan encourages, inclines and uses it. This is the poisonous matter. “And the second is the elixir matter.”

This is a curative matter, how evils can be cured. “And both these ingredients are present within a person. “Vices are present inside a man and good virtues are also present inside a man.” If one does not suppress evils with virtues, if one does not suppress evils with good deeds,

If one does not come under the salvation of Allah Almighty by seeking His help, then those vices will become dominant and take possession. The Promised Messiah (as) says: “When a man shows, pride “and begins to think that he is somebody very important,

“and he does not ask for help from the fountain of elixir then the poisonous matter overpowers him.” Thus when there is no Istighfar, then it is arrogance which takes possession in the heart and stops a person from doing Istighfar. When a person is arrogant and believes himself to be of any value,

And if does not seek help from fountain of antidote, that is Istighfar, then the poisonous matter takes control of the person. The Promised Messiah (as) states: “but when he humbles himself and begins to realise that “he is nobody and of no importance and feels the need for seeking help of Allah Almighty

“then a fountain is made to flow by Allah Almighty and his soul begins to melt. “And this is what is meant by Istighfar.” Thus, what is true Istighfar? That is Istighfar due to which soul completely melts and flows. This softness of the soul is not verbal professing of Istighfar

Rather that is Istighfar which comes out from heart with passion. And when this comes out then it flows in the form of tears of the eyes while bowing before Allah so then this develops a revolution inside a person and brings reformation. The Promised Messiah (as) says: “That is, having found the strength,

“man overcomes the toxic matters.” As it was stated earlier, strength is obtained through Istighfar. And that strength is obtained from such Istighfar which is performed with heartfelt emotions and passion as it is mentioned that it is expressed through tears of the eyes.

That Istighfar is the true Istighfar which brings a revolution inside a person. Then the Promised Messiah (as) says: “In short it means that stay firm on worship. “Firstly, obey the Prophet (saw), secondly always seek help from God. “Of course, first and foremost you should ask for help from God

“and when you have got it, and then you should turn to Him.” In accordance with the manner told by Allah Almighty, one must obey the messenger. Bow before Allah Almighty by asking help of Allah Almighty. Thus, first and foremost is the obedience of the messenger.

Then persistently if a man will be submitting before Allah Almighty, asking His help, then such a state will be developed in which Allah Almighty accepts his repentance and stops him from vices. The Promised Messiah (as) says at one place: “Istighfar and Taubah (repentance) are two separate matters.

“From one point of view, Istighfar has priority over repentance,” that is Istighfar has precedence and more importance than repentance, “in as much as Istighfar is the help and strength which are obtained from God “and repentance means standing on one’s own feet.” Istighfar has priority as one attains help and strength, and gets power.

To achieve this, one cries before Allah Almighty. Heart must be purified from every kind of dirtiness. So, this has priority that when one seeks this Istighfar from Allah Almighty and when one has attained it then the second step for a man is repentance which means standing on one’s own feet consistently.

For repentance, one has to consistently do Istighfar in order to safeguard repentance. Repentance is not a customary display as practised nowadays at some places where people touch ears with their hands, so this is not repentance, therefore first obtain strength from Istighfar. Then attain that status where nearness to Allah Almighty is achieved,

Heart is inclined towards good deeds. This is repentance and when it is attained then Istighfar is necessary to maintain it. The Promised Messiah (as) says: “It is the way of Allah that when a person seeks help from Him, “He bestows strength and with that strength the supplicant stands on his own feet

“and thus possesses the faculty to do good, which is called ‘turning to God’. “This is the natural sequence of it. “It is appointed for seekers that they should seek help from God in every condition. “Till a seeker obtains strength from God, he can do nothing. “The strength for repentance is acquired after Istighfar.

“If there is no Istighfar, the faculty of repentance dies. “If you will thus follow up Istighfar with repentance, “the result will be as set out in the verse: [Arabic Holy Quran 11:4] “He will provide for you a goodly provision until an appointed term”.

The Promised Messiah (as) says: “This is the way of God, “that those who follow up Istighfar with repentance will achieve their cherished grades. “Every sense has its limits,” That is power to obtain everything, power to discover anything, power to acquire anything, power and strength to obtain anything has limits.

“within which it achieves its high grades” Every person has a limit within which progress in rank is achieved according to individual’s own capability. “not everyone can be a Prophet or a Messenger or a Truthful (Siddiq) or a Testifier (Shahid).” This is quite right.

The Promised Messiah (as) says: “In short, there is no doubt “that ranking of Grace is a true matter. Indeed, it is correct that not every person can reach every stage and superiority is established amongst these grades. The Promised Messiah (as) says: “Allah says further that by striving

“uninterruptedly on these matters, each seeker will attain grades and honours “in accordance with their capabilities.” Uninterruptedly means striving again and again and keep working repeatedly. If one will keep striving and will be constantly engaged in those tasks which Allah Almighty has

Communicated then every person who is making whatever effort to find Allah Almighty in accordance with one’s capability, whatever capability the person has, will attain grade and honour. The Promised Messiah (as) says: “This is what the verse [Arabic – Holy Quran 11:4]

“ ‘And He will grant His grace to everyone possessed of merit’ signifies.’ ” Every person who possesses merit will attain His blessings and as it is mentioned, that due to this merit every person will receive pious and spiritual blessings in this life as well as in the hereafter.

The Promised Messiah (as) says: “However if a person possesses extra capacity, “God Almighty would grant him extra in his spiritual endeavours.” This is Allah’s grace that how much to grant and who should get it. That favour is in work as well.

If Allah Almighty, through His blessings, wants to grant an extra then Allah Almighty will grant that person in excess because of this Istighfar and repentance but the first condition is this very one that make extreme efforts, perform Istighfar and repentance and subsequently Allah Almighty will grant extra.

The Promised Messiah (as) says: “And one will receive blessing which is one’s innate right . “Zil-Fazal is connected to Maliki.” As Allah Almighty is the Master, He is the Powerful, because of this, an extra is being granted. Not only due to man’s hard work but because Allah Almighty is the Master

So He can grant excessive blessings as much as He desires. Nevertheless, Allah Almighty bestows His blessings to those who do Istighfar, turn towards Him and make efforts. “This means God Almighty does not deprive anyone his due.” Then the Promised Messiah (as) says: “Some people say do we have to become a Holy person?

“Those who say this are low-spirited non-believers” That is they are sinners and disbelievers. “It is appropriate for a person to work according to the law of nature.” Allah Almighty has made a law. He has left the door of Istighfar and repentance open so one should strive and make use of it.

One should strive to the utmost level. The rest are blessings of Allah Almighty. He bestows everyone in accordance with their grades and capacities. After this academic and spiritual argument, I shall now present some accounts of the assemblies and gatherings of the Promised Messiah (as).

People used to ask questions in the gatherings of the Promised Messiah (as), in one of such gathering, the importance of Istighfar explained by the Promised Messiah (as) in what manner, a tradition presented in this regard that a person questioned that what formulaic-prayer should I recite?

In those days also, it was a common practice that people had great fondness to say formulaic-prayer. It still exists now as well. So, the Promised Messiah (as) replied: “ Say Istighfar profusely. “Man has only two conditions; “either he does not commit any sin or Allah Almighty “safeguards him against the inauspicious end.”

Man has two conditions; either one does not commit a sin or if one has committed a sin and has realised the mistake then Allah Almighty safeguards man from its ill-fate. “Therefore, both these meanings should be kept in mind when saying Istighfar.”

When one is reading Istighfar, one needs to give due regard to both meanings. This is one of the biggest formulaic-prayer that firstly a person does not commit a sin, supplicate to be safeguarded against sin but if one has committed a sin then its ill-consequence should not be manifested.

“Firstly, covering of past sins is sought from Allah Almighty. “And secondly ability to be protected from future sins is sought from God. “However, Istighfar is not fulfilled by mere verbal utterance but it should be from the heart. “It is important to also supplicate in one’s own tongue during Salat.”

Thus, this is the purpose of Istighfar that forgiveness for committing sin and to be safeguarded against sin. And to understand the details of sins one has to reflect deeply upon the injunctions of the Holy Qur’an. Then a person came in a gathering.

Maulvi Abdul Kareem Sahib (rh) also present in that gathering acquainted with that person. When he met Maulvi Abdul Kareem Sahib then he presented him before the Promised Messiah (as) that this person has gone to many clerics, mystics, scholars and ascetics and now he has come here.

The Promised Messiah (as) said to him that “What do you want to say?” So he replied that “Huzoor I have gone to many ascetics. I have certain flaws in me. “Firstly, when I go to any saint, I leave after few days and my personality does not believe them.

“Secondly, I have the flaw of backbiting. Thirdly, I am not inclined to worship. “And there are many other flaws.” The Promised Messiah (as) responded: “I understand, your real problem is impatience. “The rest are its conditions.” The actual disease and ailment is your impatience. The rest are all its minor diseases.

“When man is not impatient in his worldly matters and waits for results patiently and resolutely, “why then does he demonstrate impatience in the presence of God? “Does a farmer sow his seeds and starts thinking of harvest in one day?

“Or as soon as a baby is born wants him to grow up and help him? “There are no precepts and examples of such rush “and haste in law of nature governed by God Almighty. “One who wishes to work with such haste is extremely ignorant.

“That person should consider himself very fortunate who can see his flaws as flaws.” Such a person is very fortunate who can detect his vices and flaws. “Otherwise Satan shows bad deeds and immoral acts as brightly coloured and beautiful.” It is a great quality that if a person realises that I have these flaws.

As Satan is doing his work and even displays evils as good. “Thus, you should give up your impatience and seek assistance from God Almighty with patience “and determination and ask forgiveness for your sins. There is nothing apart from this.

“A person who comes to people of Allah for this purpose that they may blow incantation “on him to reform him wants to govern God. One should come here as a subservient. “Unless one leaves all worldly powers, nothing can be attained. “When an ailing person goes to a physician he relates many problems.”

A person describes his illness when he goes to a doctor. “But the physician recognises and diagnoses the real problem and starts its treatment. “Similarly, your problem is impatience. “If you cure that, if God wills the other problems will also go away. “Our faith is that man should never lose hope in God Almighty

“and should continue to seek until death rattles starts.” One should continue this until last breath. “Unless man takes his patience and seeking to this limit, he cannot be successful.” Thus this is the standard of patience that one should strive until his last breath.

“God Almighty is Powerful and if He wills He can make one successful in an instant.” It is not necessary as well that it’s till last breath. Allah Almighty is all powerful, He may instantly, in the first time, with a single supplication, accepts prayers from one prostration.

“However the true love should demands that one is running in the way of seeking. ” That is one continuously runs or walks. Sa’adi has said: [Farsi]. “Even if it is not possible to reach the Friend; Love demands that one should die seeking.”

The fundamental requirement of love is that one should die in seeking, searching and wishing. “There are two kinds of diseases, one disease is direct and the other is diverse.” There are two types of illness. One illness is called Mastavi (direct) and the other is called Mukhtalif (diverse). These are not names but types.

There are two kinds of diseases, one disease is direct, and the other is diverse. “Mustavi disease is that which has apparent pain and man is concerned about its cure “but does not have any care for Mukhtalif disease.” There are some hidden diseases,

Which one cannot feel so does not have any concern regarding them. “Similarly, some sins are perceptible while others are imperceptible to man. “This is why it is needed that man should always engage in Istighfar. “God Almighty has sent the Holy Qur’an for reformation. “If it was God’s law to reform by blowing incantation,

“why would have the Holy Prophet (saw) endured so much persecution for thirteen years in Makkah? “He could have had influence over Abu Jahl.” Influenced instantly by supplication. “Let alone Abu Jahl, Abu Talib even had love for the Prophet.” That is he loved Abu Talib but despite that he did not become Muslim.

“In short impatience is not good. It can lead to destruction.” Once a person requested for prayers regarding his debt in the gathering of the Promised Messiah (as) upon which he said that: “Say Istighfar profusely. This is the method for man to avoid grief.”

To avoid and remove sorrows, this is the method that says Istighfar. That is to reduce afflictions one should recite Istighfar. “Istighfar is the key to progress.” Thus, this should be remembered that this Istighfar will open doors of improvement at that time, those locks will be unlocked at that time,

When one performs Istighfar in the same manner which has already been mentioned that how a man should bow purely before Allah Almighty. Once a person asked for prayers that he may have children upon which the Promised Messiah (as) said: “Say Istighfar a lot. “It effaces sin and Allah Almighty also grants offspring.

“Remember, belief is very important.” While saying Istighfar, one should also have perfect belief in God Almighty. “God Almighty Himself helps that person who is perfect in belief.” At another instance the Promised Messiah (as) said that “A man should say Istighfar a lot for protection against weaknesses. “Istighfar works to avoid chastisement of sin

“like a prisoner pays a penalty to secure his release.” At another instance the Promised Messiah (as) advising us said: “Some people are affected with sufferings which is the result of their own misdeeds.” “[Arabic – Holy Quran 99:9] “Thus, it is necessary for a man that he always engages in Istighfar and repentance

“lest bad deeds exceed limit and invite the wrath of God Almighty. “When God Almighty looks on someone with His grace, “He usually instils that person’s love in hearts.” When blessing of Allah Almighty descends on someone then love for that person is implanted in people’s hearts.

“However, when man’s evil exceeds limits, his disapproval is willed in the heavens “and in accordance to the will of Allah the Exalted people’s hearts are hardened for him.” When Allah Almighty has decided that He does not want His Grace to descend upon him then people’s hearts are also hardened towards that person.

“Yet, as soon as that person turns to the Divine threshold with Istighfar and Repentance “and seeks refuge, tenderness is generated clandestinely and without anyone realising, “seed of love for that person is sown in hearts of people.” Yes when the heart of a person becomes hardened and does not become successor of Allah’s Grace,

Disapproval of Allah Almighty is displaying for him then people’s hearts are hardened. However, if that person performs Istighfar and repentance then Allah Almighty accepts that Istighfar and accepts that repentance and as a consequence, mercy and love are instilled for him in the hearts of people.

The Promised Messiah (as) said: “Seed of love for that person is sown in hearts of people. “In short, the formula of Istighfar and repentance is tried and tested and does not fail.” Today in different countries, the bad deeds of these worldly people have created discord and mayhem.

Those leaders who in their arrogance assumed themselves to be the darling of the masses have become the worst creatures in the eyes of the masses and those in their own imagination have kept their status. Those in their view believe that they are still darling and favourite of the masses.

The signs are such that their turn is also approaching. In short, this is the mayhem which is created in this world. As a result, regimes have changed around the world which created further turmoil and Allah Almighty knows better that how many more disorders will be generated in future.

Therefore, we should pray a lot that Allah Almighty may save the world from disorders. Thus, Istighfar where fulfils the aim of worship of Allah Almighty, enables one’s attention to discharge the duty of the rights of Allah and rights of mankind, becomes the source of establishing a durable association

With the ambassador sent by Allah Almighty and protects mankind from disorders of this world and from annoyance of Allah Almighty. It enables one to walk on those tracks which are tracks of achieving nearness to Allah Almighty due to which this world and the hereafter becomes ornamented,

There it also becomes source of fulfilling personal needs and eliminating hardships of a person as I read many narrations in which the Promised Messiah (as) gave advice. Man, also becomes the recipient of innumerable blessings of Allah Almighty through Istighfar.

Allah Almighty has blessed us Ahmadis that we have recognised the Imam of the time, who has guided us about worship, achieving nearness to Allah Almighty and to attain His blessings. However, in order to truly benefit from this, we should constantly engage in Istighfar which every Ahmadi should value deeply.

May Allah Almighty enable us all to do so. All praise is due to Allah. We laud Him, we beseech help from Him and ask His protection; we confide in Him, we trust Him alone and we seek protection against the evils and mischief of our souls and from the bad results of our deeds.

Whomsoever He guides on the right path, none can misguide him; and whosoever He declares misled, none can guide him onto the right path. And we bear witness that none deserves to be worshipped except Allah. We bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.

O servants of Allah! May Allah be merciful to you. Verily, Allah commands you to act with justice, to confer benefits upon each other and to do good to others as one does to one ‘s kindred and forbids evil which pertain to your own selves

And evils which affect others and prohibits revolts against a lawful authority. He warns you against being unmindful. You remember Allah; He too will remember you; call Him and He will make a response to your call. And verily divine remembrance is the highest virtue.
